FedEx’s 2026 Rate Increase: What It Means for FedEx 2Day® Mail

FedEx has announced updated shipping rates for 2026. Like many businesses that rely on expedited shipping, LetterStream is affected by these changes, specifically for our FedEx 2Day® mailing option.

Our goal is simple: to keep customers informed, be transparent about what’s changing, and explain how LetterStream continues to send fast, accurate, and reliable mail while working hard to keep pricing manageable.

What’s Changing at FedEx in 2026

FedEx updates its pricing annually. According to the company’s published rate
announcement, which took effect on January 5, 2026, standard list rates for FedEx U.S., export, and import services increased by an average of 5.9%. This general rate increase also applies to FedEx Freight® services.

In addition to the base rate change, FedEx introduced updates that may affect certain shipments:

  • Surcharge adjustments, including residential delivery, additional handling, and oversize fees
  • Dimensional pricing changes, with additional handling and oversize fees assessed using cubic volume thresholds
  • Customs brokerage updates for cross-border shipments

These changes are carrier-level decisions and apply broadly across industries that use FedEx services.

LetterStream’s Approach to Pricing — and Why It’s Different

LetterStream does not typically raise prices even when USPS or FedEx raise theirs. Historically, when USPS or FedEx has increased rates, we’ve worked hard to absorb those changes by improving efficiency, automation, and workflow design. Our highly efficient, intelligent, and automated workflow called The Stream ensures our customers experience fast, accurate, and reliable mailings.

That approach is intentional. It’s part of our commitment to making it easy to print and send mail online without surprise costs or frequent adjustments.

However, carrier increases don’t always remain absorbable—especially when they affect expedited services like FedEx 2Day. This year, to continue supporting demand and maintain consistent service standards, passing along a portion of the FedEx increase became necessary.

When pricing adjustments are necessary, they are deliberate and communicated with full transparency.

How This Affects FedEx 2Day at LetterStream

Because LetterStream offers FedEx 2Day as an option for sending time-sensitive mail online, FedEx’s 2026 rate increase directly impacts the underlying cost of that service.

As a result, the FedEx 2Day price at LetterStream will increase from $14.20 to $15.35, a $1.15 adjustment

Remember, our pricing includes printing, insertion, and sending. You no longer have to deal with supply management, staff, or drop-off.

We don’t make pricing changes often. In fact, raising prices is something we actively work to avoid whenever possible.

How The Stream’s Efficiency Helps Limit Cost Increases

This is where The Stream plays an important role. LetterStream’s efficiency is built into how our system operates. It’s driven by StreamLogic®—our service-marked methodology for designing and continuously optimizing how mail moves from file upload to carrier handoff—and executed through The Stream, our highly intelligent, fully automated print-to-mail workflow.

What The Stream Delivers:

  • Automated intake and processing (intuitive platform)
  • Intelligent production sequencing (DocuWeave℠)
  • Accurate mail preparation (IntelliPrint℠)
  • Predictable release to USPS or FedEx
  • Full tracking and visibility

Because mail is produced quickly, accurately, and reliably, customers benefit from
mail being sent fast without unnecessary upgrades or rework. That efficiency helps keep overall mailing costs manageable — even when carrier rates rise.

In many cases, this efficiency has allowed LetterStream to absorb past carrier increases entirely. While that isn’t always possible, it remains a top priority.

Why Mailing Efficiency Matters More Than Ever

Across the mailing industry, costs continue to rise — from transportation and labor to paper and postage. The most effective way to manage those changes isn’t shortcuts or guesswork. It’s automation, visibility, and disciplined workflow design.

That’s exactly what LetterStream focuses on every day: sending fast, accurate, and reliable mail with pricing customers can plan around.

What Hasn’t Changed at LetterStream

Even with FedEx’s 2026 price changes and our modest adjustment, some things never change:

  • We don’t add hidden fees or surprise charges. You pay only for what you mail. There are no minimum quantity requirements or monthly account fees.
  • We maintain strict accuracy and transparency.  Automated checks and tracking tools give customers real-time visibility into their mail status.
  • We stand behind our service. Our Guarantee — Whether you’re sending a FedEx 2Day envelope, a single Certified letter, or thousands of invoices, our performance stays consistent.

A Note from Our Team

We understand that price changes are never welcome. But transparency and trust matter to us just as much as speed and accuracy. That’s why we’re sharing these details today. By planning and investing in efficiency, we believe we can minimize the impact on your budgets and continue to offer the fast, accurate, and reliable mail service you depend on.

Thank you for trusting us with your business-critical mail. Your confidence drives us to keep improving The Stream, even as external conditions change.

USPS Postage Rate Increase on January 26th

USPS 2014 stamp 49 cents

As a reminder, the United States Postal Service (USPS) will be increasing the price of a first-class stamp from $.46 each to $.49 each on January 26th, 2014. If you are planning on getting a mailing out the door this month, you can save money by sending it a few days early.

LetterStream will be raising its prices on all first-class mail products by 3 cents to cover the cost of the USPS price increase. Our new prices will take effect at 5:00 pm on January 24th, as jobs received over the weekend will be mailed on Mon. Jan. 27th at the new postage rate.

As is our tradition, LetterStream has no plans to increase prices beyond the USPS increase. Keep in mind that the USPS has raised prices on postcards, flats, certified mail and other products as well. These increases will be reflected where appropriate in LetterStream prices. We look out for our customers as best we can!
